Henan University of Chinese Medicine (hereinafter referred to as “HUCM”) is an institution qualified to recruit the Chinese Government Scholarship applicants. In order to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s cooperation and exchanges with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.
The "High Level Graduate" program of Chinese Government Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as "High Level Program") aims to attract high-level international students from all over the world, train leading international professionals, promote first-class universities and disciplines of the world,and provide talent support for the coordinated development of national strategies and university internationalization.
1. Supporting Categories, Duration and Instruction Language
1.1 Supporting Categories
Master’s programs and doctoral programs.
1.2 Duration
The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The duration of the language study is generally one year and the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

2. Scholarship Coverage
2.1 Tuition fees;
2.2 Accommodation or accommodation subsidy;
2.3 Stipend:
Master’s programs: CNY 3,000 per month;
Doctoral programs: CNY 3,500 per month.
2.4 Comprehensive medical insurance:
CNY 800 per person per year.
3. Majors
Applicants can refer to the “2024 Specialty Catalogue of CSC Scholarship High Level Graduate Program of HUCM” (Appendix 1) for reference.
4. Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must:
4.1 be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically, and have no criminal record;
4.2 abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the university;
4.3 have positive attitude towards learning and excellent academic performance;
4.4 be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;
4.5 be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
4.6 have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinese-taught master’s programs or doctoral programs;
4.7 meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.
5. Application Documents
5.1 Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English);
5.2 Copy of Passport Home Page and the visa page (if have experience in China). An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before September 2024. Renew the passport if the requirement is not meet. Applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons shall submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of HUCM;
5.3 Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners shall submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
5.4 Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;
5.5 Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK reports in accordance with the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements. No need for those who have obtained a degree in Chinese-taught programs in China;
5.6 Pre-admission documents. Pre-admission documents issued by HUCM;
5.7 A study plan proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English only contains more than 1,000 characters or words, which covers the understanding of the applied major and the applied university, views on the future of the major, the personal planning and reasons for choosing to study this major in HUCM. The proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor;
5.8 Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad;
5.9 Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China;
5.10 A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). (Appendix 2) The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months;
5.11 Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
NOTE: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
NOTE: CSC does not accept direct applications from individuals.
7. Deadline for Application

8. Scholarship Confirmation
8.1 HUCM examines the application documents and conducts written examination or interview, recommends the excellent candidates to China scholarship Council;
8.2 The pre-admitted applicants can receive the scholarship to study in China after passing the assessment of CSC experts;
8.3 CSC scholarship recipients shall not be subsidized by other scholarships (excluding all kinds of one-time awards) established by the Chinese governments at all levels and the admission institutions at the same time. Once found, their Chinese government scholarship qualifications will be canceled and the Chinese government scholarships they have received must be returned. Applicants who deliberately conceal their financial support are not be allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships for three years, in addition to being disqualified.
8.4 Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change their admission institutions, field of study, and duration of study stipulated on the Admission Letter after coming to China;
8.5 The scholarship will not be retained if the applicant cannot study in China according to the admission period.
